Messina Beer is an Italian alcoholic beverage brand produced and marketed by Heineken Italia SpA. Originally founded in 1923, it operated as an independent Italian company based in Messina, specializing in beer production until 1988.

Messina Sicilian Beer tells the story of a unique brewery and 15 master brewers who, with perseverance and dedication, turned their dream into reality—a revival that seemed almost impossible. In 1988, HEINEKEN Italia acquired both the brewery located on Via Bonino in Messina and the historic Messina Birra brand from the Faranda family. Production flourished for over a decade until 1999 when the need arose to move the production plant due to the city's expansion.

Despite several unsuccessful attempts to obtain permits and relocate production to nearby areas, the decision was made to transfer production to the Massafra brewery in Puglia. Bottling operations remained in Messina until 2007. However, due to the obsolescence of the lines and the impracticality of investments in the area, bottling was later moved to Massafra, where Messina Beer continues to be produced and bottled.

In 2013, driven by the entrepreneurial spirit and determination of 15 former employees, the "Messina Brewery Cooperative" was founded. The cooperative began producing new beer recipes in 2016. In 2018, Messina Beer's history intertwined with that of the new cooperative through an agreement that included producing part of Birra Messina Cristalli di Sale, a new variety introduced by our group. This collaboration led to additional quantities, doubling the cooperative’s production capacity.
