Pet-Friendly Holiday Parks in NSW

Take your best friend on a caravan and camping holiday in NSW. Many holiday parks are pet friendly, so you can enjoy a holiday with your canine pal. Some campsites even allow you to bring horses. Below is your guide to pet-friendly holiday parks and campgrounds in NSW from the Coast to the Outback.

Before you go

To ensure your holiday is a safe, stress-free experience there are a few proper precautions to take before setting off. Firstly, make sure your pet's vaccinations are up to date and have your contact details attached to their collar.

You should also consult the pet policy in place at your chosen holiday park. For example, some parks do not allow dogs during school holidays. For peace of mind, speak with the manager of the holiday park prior to booking. Holiday parks also require dogs are kept on a leash at all times and that you clean up after them.

Pets react differently to travel and being on the move without proper planning can cause them distress. Help ensure a smooth ride by providing your pet with enough water and monitoring the temperature. The Caravan & Camping Industry Association of NSW has the following helpful tips about travelling with pets:

Ask your vet for advice before you travel.
Exercise your pets about 20 minutes before the trip.
Restrain your pets in a carrier or harness in the car.
Never leave your pets unattended in your vehicle.
Take regular bathroom breaks on your journey.

It's worth noting that no domestic pets – other than trained assistance animals like guide dogs – are allowed in national parks, State conservation areas, reserves, historic sites or Aboriginal cultural heritage areas.

North Coast

If you’re heading north, plan a pit stop at Smugglers Cove, a pet-friendly holiday park in Forster on the North Coast. There are many pet-friendly options if you’re travelling south, too. Take your pet to the NRMA Merimbula Beach Holiday Resort or to the Jervis Bay Holiday Park near to Booderee National Park. Dogs are also welcome on a number of idyllic, pet-friendly South Coast beaches.

Country NSW
