Walks & trails

A great way to learn about the history and heritage of Orange is to explore the self-guided Orange Heritage Trail. Pick up a brochure from the Visitor Information Centre, which details more than 40 places of historical interest and beauty. The walk takes approximately 90min to complete and showcases some of Orange's finest buildings.

The landscapes near the city of Orange are spectacular. Visit Pinnacle Reserve and Lookout, where you will find picnic shelters near a trail that climbs to beautiful views of Towac Valley. Mount Canobolas, an ancient volcano, has a variety of walks, such as the Spring Glade walking track. Further west is Nangar National Park, where you can admire breathtaking views from the lookout.

Galleries & gardens

Factor in some time to visit the Orange Botanic Gardens and Orange Regional Gallery. The four distinct seasons in Orange paint the parks and gardens in broad brushstrokes of colour and Cook Park is like an artwork in its own right. There are also gift shops, boutiques and private galleries to explore.

Established in 2014, the Corner Store Boutique Gallery is an independent space that is home to diverse works from emerging and established artists and designers across a variety of mediums. Getting there & where to stay

The drive west from Sydney to Orange takes you through the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains and is around 3h 40 min. You can also catch a train, which takes just under five hours, or fly into Orange Airport. You’ll find plenty of places to stay, from the Duntryleague Guesthouse or Quest Apartments, to glamping tents, charming cottages, B&Bs, motels, pubs, and caravan and campsites.

Fly into Orange Airport

Orange Airport is 15km from the Orange town centre. Make the short trip into the city using the taxi services at the terminal or ride-sharing Uber. Alternatively, rent a car from the hire services available at the airport and explore the region at your own pace.

Qantas flies direct from Sydney to Orange four times a week and Regional Express flies direct from Sydney on weekdays. Link Airways operates direct flights from Orange to Brisbane six days a week and Orange to Melbourne four days a week.
