Hot springs & waterways

Thousands of visitors flock to the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre each year to enjoy the soothing thermal springs, which are naturally heated to 41 degrees Celsius. The centre also has a day spa, sauna and gym, and offers massages and revitalising treatments.

Try your luck fishing in the Gwydir delta waterways. The Gwydir Wetlands, one of the most significant inland wetlands systems in NSW, thrives with birdlife and can be explored by canoe or kayak at certain times of the year. Or get your heart racing with waterskiing at Moree Water Park.

Moree’s rich soil supports delicious local produce, from olive groves and vineyards to beef. Take a tour of Stahmann Pecan Nut Farm’s property Trawalla, the largest pecan farm in the Southern Hemisphere.

Moree celebrates its thriving agricultural community at the vibrant Moree Show in April and the delicious Moree on a Plate Food and Wine Festival in May. This showcase of fresh local produce features everything from olives to wine, plus live entertainment and demonstrations.

Beautiful heritage

The main streets are lined with beautiful heritage buildings, best explored on the guided Moree Heritage and Art Deco Walk, which departs from the Moree Visitor Information Centre. A pretty riverside picnic spot is Mary Brand Park, named after Moree’s first store-keeper and hotelier.

Join a heritage and agricultural tour, and explore fine art in the Bank Art Museum Moree. The gallery’s indigenous art collection is one of the most significant in NSW. You can also join a cotton farm tour and see traditional cotton production. 

Getting there

Moree is just over seven hours’ drive from Sydney and 5hr 30min from Brisbane. There is a daily train service from Sydney, which takes around 8hr 30min, or you can fly into Moree Airport and rent a car. Places to stay include country pubs, caravan parks and motels, many with their own artesian baths.

Moree Airport is 5km from Moree’s town centre. Use the taxi services at the airport to make the short trip north. Alternatively, rent a car from the hire services available at the airport and explore the region at your own pace.

QantasLink operates direct flights between Moree and Sydney six days a week. Link Airways operates from Narrabri to Brisbane four days a week and Narrabri to Sydney three days a week.
