Hunter Valley Golf and Country Club is in the grounds of the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley in Lovedale, famous for the festive Lovedale Long Lunch. Vineyards and ranges create a splendid backdrop. The championship course is suited to golfers of all levels and the resort features a deluxe hotel and villas.

The Vintage Golf Club in Rothbury features a Greg Norman-designed championship course beautifully set alongside wetlands, eucalypts and the vineyards of Bimbadgen. The club is set on the tranquil grounds of Chateau Elan, a luxury resort. Golf lessons are available from the Richard Mercer Golf Academy.

Cypress Lakes Golf and Country Club in Pokolbin is ranked among the top resort courses. With great views of vineyards and the Broken Back Range, the Steve Smyers-designed championships course is next to the Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort.

Easts Leisure is an 18-hole course in Maitland, around half an hour from the Hunter Valley. For a shorter game, you’ll find lovely nine-hole course at Branxton Golf Club north of Cessnock, Paterson Golf Club and Singleton Golf Club.

Fly into Newcastle Airport 

The Hunter Valley is within easy reach of Newcastle Airport. Choose from a range of transport services on arrival, including car rentals, limousines and shuttle buses as well as group and private transfers. Public transport options are available from the airport to Australia’s oldest wine region.

Newcastle Airport offers direct flights to and from eight destinations throughout southeastern Australia. Jetstar flies to Brisbane, Melbourne and the Gold Coast; Virgin Australia flies to Melbourne; QantasLink flies to Brisbane; and Regional Express flies to Sydney. Link Airways operates direct flights between Canberra and Newcastle six days a week. FlyPelican flies to Ballina/Byron, Canberra, Dubbo and Taree. Virgin Australia also operates seasonal direct flights to Auckland, New Zealand, between November and February.
