Bushwalking in Jervis Bay & Shoalhaven
From gentle strolls to challenging adventures, a great way to experience Jervis Bay and the Shoalhaven area’s natural beauty is on foot. Discover lush wilderness, pretty waterfalls, eye-popping lookouts and prehistoric marine fossils, and spot kangaroos, dolphins and whales in the wild. The area is home to nine national parks and 16 white sand beaches. Explore walking tracks that take in incredible environments, from littoral and escarpment rainforest to rugged coastal headlands, rock platforms and riverside hinterland forests.
Exploring the coast
In the northern section of Murramarang National Park near Bawley Point, you’ll find pretty coastal walks, including the Pretty Beach to Snapper Point walking track. On this 1km return walk, enjoy fabulous ocean views. The jewel in the crown is the spectacular White Sands Walk in Jervis Bay National Park.

Uncover Aboriginal heritage & fossils
On the southern end of the crystal blue Jervis Bay is Booderee National Park. Join Aboriginal rangers in the park to learn about traditional bush tucker and medicinal plants. You’ll also find several lovely self-guided bushwalking tracks as well as campgrounds near white sand beaches in the beautiful park.
Another immersive cultural experience is the 2.2km Murramarang Aboriginal Area walking track, which loops you past ancient middens and other significant indigenous sites. To see 270-million-year-old marine fossils, follow the Gondwana Coast Fossil Walk. The guided walk ventures along the rock platforms of Ulladulla. ;
For stunning views & lookouts
A scenic drive west of Ulladulla is Pigeon House Mountain, which you can climb for panoramic views of the Shoalhaven area. Another great location for breathtaking views of the coast and beyond is Jerrawangala lookout, in the Jerrawangala National Park near Nowra. Unmarked tracks wind through the park and suit experienced hikers.
