Blue Mountains Heritage Centre

Your first stop to the Blue Mountains should be the Heritage Centre, where knowledgeable staff can provide tips on what’s on in the region, and which hiking trails are best suited to your needs.

This is also the place to learn about Indigenous culture and native flora and fauna, with the permanent Outside In exhibition revealing just some of the plants, birds and animals you can look forward to glimpsing once you head back outdoors.

If you need further inspiration, sign up for the centre’s virtual-reality experience ($10 for 15 minutes). With a pair of Oculus Rift goggles on, you’ll be transported to the Claustral Canyon, a dreamy ravine carved by waterfalls and rivers and a magnet for adventurous visitors.
