With a charming main street, lush landscape and an assortment of epicurean experiences, it’s easy to see why Berry is a popular escape for glamorous Sydneysiders. Dine at delicious restaurants, enjoy sophisticated shopping and stay in stylish accommodation in this elegant village in the Shoalhaven region of the NSW South Coast.
Berry is a great base for exploring nearby wineries, beaches and nature walks. Learn about the town’s history at the Berry Historic Museum, browse for antiques and collectables in one of Berry’s heritage buildings or try an arts and crafts workshop at This Old House Studio.
Take a flavour-filled journey through Berry, enjoying locally made gourmet products. Pick up delicious cinnamon doughnuts from the Berry Donut Van, a local institution found on Queen Street, before stopping by The Berry Tea Shop for afternoon tea and Il Locale Gelato or The Dairy Bar for dessert. At The Treat Factory, see how chocolates and confectionery are made.
Enjoy lunch in the pretty, all-weather courtyard at The Garden. For dinner, book a table at top dining spots such as South on Albany or Queen St Eatery. From Berry, join a cellar door tour of the local Shoalhaven Coast wine region, calling into wineries such as Silos Estate and Two Figs Winery.
For collectables and handmade goods, The Berry Markets (also known as the Country Fair) is held on the first Sunday of the month at Berry Showground.
Accommodation options include country cottages, garden retreats, boutique inns and farm stays. For an indulgent stay, book into Mt Hay Retreat, luxury villas complete with an outdoor bath and breathtaking views of the surrounding bucolic hills just minutes from Berry village.
Part of the Shoalhaven region on the NSW South Coast, Berry is just over two hours’ drive from Sydney, at the end of the spectacular Grand Pacific Drive, or 2hr 45min from Canberra. You can also take the train from Sydney to Berry, a scenic journey of around three hours.
