Attractions for Kids in Regional NSW

There’s no shortage of amazing locations to keep the kids entertained in Regional NSW. In fact, there are fun things to do that will accommodate everyone in the family. Escape the city for themed adventure parks, game parks and wildlife centres that will keep tots, teens and parents happy and engaged the whole day long.

Thrills & spills

Some of the most fun you can have as a family is when you get to see the landscape through a wide-angle lens: take the kids to a treetop adventure park, which have specially designed harnesses to keep them safe as they climb trees and glide on zip-lines or flying foxes. The South Coast, Central Coast and North Coast all have treetop adventure parks.

Enjoy exploring the temperate rainforest at Illawarra Fly Treetop Adventures, south of Sydney, or spend the afternoon chasing thrills on toboggans and giant waterslides at Jamberoo Action Park. The nearby Illawarra Golf Complex and Crazy Putt in Windang has an 18-hole putt-putt course, just 25min from Jamberoo.

Massive trampolines, foam pits and skate ramps are all features of the Flip Out Trampoline Arena, found at various locations across NSW. Families with older kids visiting Newcastle will enjoy hurtling around the track at Go Karts Go, while those travelling on the South Coast will find yet more action-packed ways to enjoy the natural environment at Magic Mountain amusement park in Merimbula.

Animal encounters

Dubbo is home to the excellent Taronga Western Plains Zoo, and in Gosford you’ll find the Australian Reptile Park and Australia Walkabout Wildlife Park. Coffs Harbour offers family favourites like the Butterfly House and Dolphin Marine Conservation Park. Younger kids will get their kicks at Macadamia Castle in Ballina where they can cuddle nursery animals, play mini golf and hop onto a miniature train ride.

In Port Stephens you can pet and feed marine life at Irukandji Shark & Ray Encounters, or have a meerkat climb to the top of your head at Mogo Wildlife Park near Batemans Bay. If you’re travelling along the coast between May and November, set off on a whale-watching cruise to spot humpbacks on migration.
